IBCA has appointed two new non-executive directors (NEDs) to its Board - Richard Blakeway appointed to lead Customer Journey and Laura Bunt appointed to oversee digital transformation.

Their skills will help IBCA continue to build a service that actively listens to the views of the infected blood community.

Laura Bunt has been appointed as Digital Transformation NED, Laura’s experience in digital leadership roles across organisations like YoungMinds, WithYou and Citizens Advice will help her to successfully oversee how IBCA manages data and delivers digital services.

Laura has extensive experience in advising public bodies on digital transformations through Public Digital’s expert network and a strong track record of bringing about change by working with communities.

Richard Blakeway has been appointed as IBCA’s new Customer Journey NED and will use his experience in public advocacy to ensure that IBCA delivers a fair and compassionate service focused on the people making a claim.

Richard is currently the chair of the Office for Legal Complaints and has led on significant reforms following the Grenfell Tower tragedy. He is a Housing Ombudsman, and previously served as Deputy Mayor for Housing in London.

David Foley, IBCA’s Chief Executive said:

"I'm really pleased to welcome each of these new NEDs to the Board. They bring a wealth of experience, and more importantly, they share our commitment to pay every eligible person the compensation they deserve as quickly as we can, while building a compensation service which is right for everyone.

"Everything we do is built around the needs of the community. These appointments strengthen our ability to deliver a service which treats people with respect, dignity and compassion."

Both appointments reflect IBCA's commitment to transparency and independent oversight.

You can register your intent to make a compensation claim at ibca.org.uk/register.

IBCA is processing compensation claims in priority order, as recommended by the Infected Blood Inquiry. Claims will be prioritised for those who are sadly nearing the end of their lives, followed by older age groups.

It only takes a few minutes to register, with information such as name, contact details and the type of claim you would like to make.
