IBCA is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone connected to our work. This includes the people we support, our staff, volunteers and partners.
What safeguarding is
Safeguarding means protecting people's health, wellbeing and human rights so they can live free from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation. It applies to everyone, but we have a particular responsibility towards children, young people and adults at risk.
Our policy and approach
Our safeguarding policy sets out how we prevent harm where possible, recognise concerns and respond appropriately. Our approach is trauma informed and family first. We keep the person at the centre of everything we do and we seek the views of their family whenever it’s safe to do so.
You can request our safeguarding policy by emailing safeguarding@ibca.org.uk.
How to raise a concern
If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of someone, or about the behaviour of a member of staff, volunteer or partner, we want to hear from you.
You do not need to be certain that something is wrong to raise a concern. We will listen and take what you tell us seriously. Everything is treated in confidence unless we need to share information to keep you or someone else safe.
